A few shots taken with the Kiev 30 16mm camera.
 |
The Kiev 30 has a lens that focuses from
.5 meter to infinity. This flower was taken at 20 inches. No close-up lenses
necessary. |

The U.S. Navy minesweeper USS Black Hawk
on a tour up the Mississippi. Most of the vessel is constructed from composite
fiber material instead of metal. |

The orange submersible is a remote controlled
mine locator and deactivator. |

It's a strange feeling when you're taking
pictures of a US Navy ship with a Soviet made "spy" camera. |

Neema and Buddy waiting to board the ship. |
All pictures above taken with Kiev 30, Fuji 100 film, slit from a 35mm
roll. Scanned on Mustek flatbed scanner. Some of these images were cropped
somewhat, but not otherwise enhanced.
The following pictures were taken with the Minolta 16QT for comparison:
 |
Gee, Dad, can you buy me one of these? |
 |
From these pictures, it seems that the
Minolta QT lens is sharper than the Kiev 30, with better color saturation
and no light falloff at the edges of the frame. One of these days I will
do a proper comparison test. |
