The Future?
.
Who Knows !
.
.

.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
.
First off, I must thank Colin Chapman posthumously , for his genius and imagination for designing and building such wonderful cars.
It IS true that once you drive a Lotus, you want to forget all of the others.
.
.
  To my Darling Wife, Alicia:
Thank you for indulging my Lotus fantasies, and letting me turn them into realities.
Your faith in me and my abilities has never waivered in 30+ years.
I know that I couldn't have done it without you !!!
  I Love You.
.
.
To my best friend, Mark Potak:
Thank you for riding shotgun, and always being so willing to help.
I really appreciate all that you did.
You came along on a journey that has lasted a lifetime, and I hope that you have enjoyed the ride !!!
I am so happy that you finally got the "LOTUS", (a 28 foot 1963 Cal Sailboat), that you always wanted.
.
.
I would like to thank Gian Polizzi, for selling me his 1967 Type 46 Europa S1A , and for throwing in all of the Racing bits.
The car has given me a lifetime of enjoyment.
.
.
.
To the Membership* of the Lotus West Car Club, which I joined in 1973:
Thank you for encouraging me to keep a 'Stiff Upper Lip' regarding the car.
As you can see, I weathered the storm just fine.
.
(* Other Members of note at that time were Dennis Ortenberger, Dave Bean, Detlef Claudius, and Ray Bisordi, all of who also now have a lifetime of Lotus ownership behind them.)
.
.
I must also thank Fred Stevenson of Lotus East , (now long gone), who was so helpful to me in my early days of Lotus ownership.
I will never forget the sight, (in 1972), of hundreds of Elans & Europas sitting in the field behind the shop at Lotus East, (who was the Importer), in Millerton, N.Y., waiting to be shipped to the various dealers that they were destined for.
(By the way, EVERY Lotus that was sitting in the field at the back of the shop that day wore a Black nose badge !
.
.
.
.
To Lee Weinstein, who helped to rescue my Spyder chassis from U.S. Customs, after it was impounded when the Import Agent, Ira Seinfeld,  was arrested by the Feds for allegedly running guns to Northern Ireland.
(They said that he was hiding them in the supposedly empty shipping crates that he was returning to England.)
Thanks Lee, the chassis is as good as you said it would be.
.

.
.
  To Steven Provenzano:
Thank you for selling me your 1976 Type 75 Elite M504 Automatic, after you had broken the Timing Belt and lunched all of the valves.
I got a real Baptism by Fire while learning all about the Lotus 907 engine.
My wife was astonished when I got the car running, and then gave it to her as a birthday present.
.

.
.
.
I would also like to thank Joe Francica, (Owner of La Monsa Motors in Mahwah,N.J.), who started out as a mechanic on Lotus Sevens in Italy, and then worked at Grand Prix Imported Cars, (the Lotus Distributorshipship owned by Sy Kaback), in Rutherford, New Jersey.
Joe is a wealth of information about the early days of Lotus.
.

.
Joe eventually became the East Coast Importer for the Upscale cars.
He supplied me with a complete rolling chassis, (less engine and transmission at a very reasonable price), when my wife's 1976 Elite 504 was damaged by a fire, (it has since been repaired), and was thusly able to keep her behind the wheel of a (barely) street legal Lotus.
(The car had been his Demo model, and was the one that was shown on the Lotus stand at the New York Auto Show when the model was first announced for sale in the U.S..
In an effort to avoid a lawsuit, Joe had removed the engine and transmission to replace a defective powertrain in a customers car.
  I have now repowered the car with a Buick 215 Aluminum V8 engine and a Borg - Warner T- 5 5 speed transmission !
.

.
.
.
Thanks to Pat Ferguson, of Queens, N.Y., (who was an early Lotus dealer), for all of the stories.
One involved dicing with Jim Clark & Colin Chapman in one rental car, with Pat and a friend in another, on the way back to the airport after the 1963 U.S. Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, N.Y.
Pat still had his original Lotus dealer sign at his service station, and he won't part with it.
He also had some NOS parts, which he did part with.
.
.
. I want to thank Dave Bean, of Dave Bean Engineering in San Andreas, California, and the rest of his staff, for sharing their knowledge ( and their vast parts inventory ), so that I could maintain my Europa S1A and two Elite M50's for all of  these years.
.

.
Lastly, once again, to everyone else who has added contributions to this site,
Thanks, and well done !!!
