Ford of England
came to Lotus to build 1000 special Cortina GT's with a Lotus Twin Cam
engine to compete in Group 2.
The Lotus Cortina
sported a completely different rear suspension, light alloy body panels,
as well as the Lotus Twin-Cam engine.
Top speed was
106 mph, and 0-60 in 9.9 seconds.
So potent was
the performance of the Lotus Cortina that they totally dominated the Sedan
classes.

( Notice that
the components are angled foreward--
slightly to offset
the braking forces found in racing.
This little modification
greatly increased the cars-
braking, and
was typical of the Lotus attention to
detail during
it's modification. )----------------------------
