Engine Modifications

I was looking for a little more power from the 2.0Liter 8Valve motor in my Jetta but I really did not want to modify it that much. I decided that I would do the following:

1. JAMEX SPORT
Drop In Replacement Air Filter
I decided against a cone style filter like the Neuspeed P-Flow because I feel it defeats the purpose of installing a higher flow air filter that is going to suck in the hot air in the engine compartment. The Jamex Sport air filter is a direct replacement re-usable High Flow air filter that goes into the factory air box...it Gives high flow and uses the cool air from the air box.

2. AMS Power Prom
- Chip upgrade this is a fast and easy way to increase power...the chip advances the timing, raises the rev limit and top speed limiter...excellent increase in performance.

3. MagnaFlow
- Custom made exhaust...I wanted an exhaust that would be high flow but I did NOT want it to be VERY loud like some of the other systems I had heard, my muffler shop recommended MagnaFlow...They are mufflers that are  designedStraight through with no restrictions. No restrictions equals better flow, and better flow equals more horsepower. While reducing the harsh, annoying exhaust tones by blanketing them with a multi-layered wall of stainless steel mesh and a dense acoustical absorbing material. I had my muffler shop make 2.5inch  a cat-back system with a large 1inlet/2outlet MagnaFlow and I had them slap on a set of DTM tips the sound is perfect!!!! Very deep but not loud...and it looks great.

These three items provided a very noticeable performance increase and quicker throttle response... just what the 2.0 8V needs.
