The moment of truth finally arrives, and so does the project's first major oops!
The Jeep stands at 7'6" tall at the roll bar! Looks like it's back to the drawing
board on the frame.
I created a MONSTER, I couldn't resist sitting behind the wheel!
The solution: Cut and lower the center section. This will have serious repercussions
throughout the design of everything to this point, forcing a redesign of just about all systems currently attached
to the frame.
Four 7" pieces of 2" X 6" X .250" wall were used to accomplish the desired results.
Now that the center section is lowered, the Jeep moves closer to the desired height
Enjoy the next few shots....
Here are a series of shots with the front end mocked up on it, Enjoy!
Now it's time to turn my attention to the desired body modifications.
One of which is a lowered cargo area, capitalizing on previous dead space under the Jeep. The aluminum
side panels have been removed, The tack welding can be seen on the inner fenderwell.
The floorboard has been cut out, and I have framed in angle iron along the outer
edges of the missing floor. I have also welded in a replacement floorboard, which can be seen tacked into
place.
A better shot of the floorboard as fabrication continues.
This is where the gas tank and Driver seat used to be.
