My '74 Chevrolet Nova coupe

I bought my car from my grandfather who passed away this summer, I'v had it for about three years now. My grandfather bought the car on a sunday believe it or not and the dealer drove it right to his door. There were no extra options when he bought the car likely because he had no money for any luxuries. The car was supposed to be a yellow my grandfather admired the color I thought it looked sick, the true color is Buckskin. When I got enough money I painted it GM Candy Apple Red, my grandfather would have probably fallen dead at the sight of it painted. But my grandmother who put most of the 42,000 miles on it getting groceries said it was a great color for a young driver.

I wish my grandfather would have got power steering and brakes. It's a real fun car to drive it only has the inline six 250 engine but it can still cruise pretty good, I can't afford to pay too much money for gas anyway. Someday I would like to have a 350 engine or maybe even bigger. This winter I'm installing a Pioneer stereo system, the original radio was a AM only with little reception.

This picture is a bit blurry but you know what I'm doing, having a little fun with the ashphalt!!

I have many plans for my car in the futur, I hope to soon add chrome wheels with relatively wider tires. I would also like to get new leaf springs for the rear so that it will raise it up a little. The car has never been driven in the winter and it's in our garage now for the winter and it's going to be real boring for the next 5 months waiting for the snow to go away.

Some day I might fix the car up to drag a little bit maybe in the bracket races I live about 40 minutes from Napierville drag way. Some of my friends have older cars that they are fixing up also. I have to go to college next year so I won't be able to do many costly changes to it. I plan on keeping my car as long as possible my greatest fear is smashing my car.

I hope that all the car lovers out there try buying an old car to restore because they are our past. I'm only 18 years old so anyone can do it I have only spent about 3000 dollars on my car that includes buying it and all the repairs. I love old cars I think it is the way to go for a young person looking for a vehicule to buy. A lot more people look at my car going by then most high scool rides. I hope you have enjoyed looking at my car.
