The original Herbie was a 1963 VW Bug, but several different year models and styles of Bugs were used in the different movies.

Herbie's movies were-- Herbie The Love Bug 1969, Herbie Rides Again 1974, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo 1977, and Herbie Goes Bananas 1980

Herbie The Love Bug Was Also Redone in the 90's
