1967 was the first year the Wildcat got the 430 cubic inch engine which was rated at 360 horsepower with 10.5:1 compression. The key to the power of the 430 is said to be the domed chamber design of the heads which greatly increased the efficiency of the engine.
The car had a specific, more open grille to set the Wildcat apart from the LeSabre at the front. Side trim used a heavier bright lower body molding that continued across the standard rear fender skirts as a lip molding. The molding flowed out of the front fender's large simulated vent intakes. Wildcat lettering appeared on the rear quarters and deck. Interiors were vinyl and cloth, of a plusher grade than the LeSabre, which featured the same standard equipment.
