Rob's Beetle page number 9

Now comes the fun part - putting everything back on the car, and trying NOT to scratch the new paint.
September 12th, most of the removable stuff has been replaced. All new seals everywhere. The stationary window seals will be replaced when I get to the headliner.

Head-on view and rear view.
As you can see we've left the interior resto for last. You can't see it very well in this pic, but I've been painting the door jambs and interior door with a hobby airbrush. Not gonna be a car show queen, but she's gonna be a sweet daily driver!

Side views of the car after installing new running boards and bumpers on 27 September 1998. She looks like a new car on the outside!
Rear quarter view.

In October 1998 we installed the headliner. Contrary to what some folks say, installing a headliner is easy. Unfortunately, installing one so that it looks good is NOT easy! The new headliner looks much better than the old one, but it's wrinkled in places and definitely looks like a novice installed it! Oh well, the old one had gaping holes and pieces hanging down that we affectionately referred to as "stalactites." No pictures of the new headliner because 1. I forgot to take any, and 2. it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.

In November of 1998 we installed new door panels. Not a hard job, but one that makes the car look much better! Pictures on the next page.
